Named ‘Mideltona’ in Domesday Book, a typical Devonshire village with buildings constructed out of local stone. Many designed by Sir Edward Lutyens.
St Constantine & Aegideus church looked after by monks from Tavistock Abbey in 12thC, eventually led to the first pastoral vicar of England. Current church 15thC.
