Devon, West Dartmoor

Situated in the valley of the river Lyd, near the border of Devon and Cornwall. Founded by Saxons in the 8thC and named after the river. St Mary’s Church mostly built in 15th C with ‘wagon’ style roof. King Charles I and his troops stayed in the Old Manor House in 1644 on their way to Cornwall.
