Devon, West Dartmoor

One of the earliest villages to be built by the Saxons in West Devon. It is rumoured that Athelstan (first King of all England and Alfred the Great’s grandson) held counrt here in 931AD. Jacobean Manor, Lewtrenchard Hotel, built in 1600 nearby.
