Devon, West Dartmoor

Inn and good starting point for exploring south west Moor. Dartmoor's last granite quarry, closed 1997, at one time producing record 1500 tons of stone in single firing. One of most accessible of Dartmoor prehistoric stone rows nearby and remains of hut circles by roadside. Disused King's Tor Quarry to east, below which old railway line far shipping granite, provides walk with spectacular views of Vixen Tor.
