Dartmoor National Park - discover a great holiday

Cycling

Whether you’re a passionate pedaller or just a casual cyclist Dartmoor has everything you could wish for - safe, traffic-free trails and quiet forest tracks, steep rugged off-road routes for keen mountain bikers, and historic rural lanes to enjoy at your own pace. You’ll find pre-planned routes in the many leaflets and guides available, ranging from the marathon 90-mile circular Dartmoor Way to family rides suitable for all ages. If you want to get away from the beaten track, the Off Road Cycling Map is invaluable, with all routes graded. And if you’ve left your wheels at home, you can hire bikes of all shapes and sizes from the many centres.

Cycling with Moor Care
Ride only where you’re allowed. Be prepared, with right equipment and clothing including a helmet. Be considerate of other users. Cyclists should use bells or greetings to let others know they are coming and take care not to scare horses. Avoid riding fast on wet ground - tyres can soon turn fragile moorland into mud.
