Total peace and privacy greet you at Swallow Barn. Oak beams, flooring, doors and double glazed windows give this retreat a cosy, solid feeling. The charming kitchen is well equipped with dish washer and washing machine. The downstairs cloakroom makes a useful addition. The wood-burning stove adds to the feeling of warmth in the sitting/dining room, with flat screen TV and DVD player, comfortable sofa and chairs.
Upstairs the bedroom is welcoming with 6ft bed, feather pillows, large wardrobes and flat screen TV.
The luxurious bathroom, with bath and power shower, has heated towel rails and plenty of towels.
The barn has its own completely private courtyard, with personal wood store full of logs for the wood-burner. Private parking.

Directions

On leaving the M5 join the A30.
Exit at Sourton Cross. At T-junction at end of slip road, turn right then immediately left signed Lifton and Lewdown.
On reaching Lewdown ( approx 7) miles turn left after the pink Post Office and in front of the war memorial.
Continue until T-juntion at Swallow Cross (1 mile). Turn left, follow road around two sharp bends, past Thorne Farm on right, take next left turn (no through road). Swallow Barn is about 300 yards on the right.

Post Office, General Store and Blue Lion Pub in Lewdown, 1 mile.
Jethro’s Club (offering entertainment evenings and Sunday Carvery), 1 mile
Local produce is available at the award winning Farm Shop in Lifton, 4 miles.
The Harris Arms, an award winning pub, is 2 miles away.
Lewtrenchard Manor, with its grade 1 listed gardens and fine dining, is a pleasant 1 mile walk away. (Wellingtons needed in wet weather)
Roadford Lake is close by with café, sailing and fishing available.

Swallow Barn is well placed to visit Tavistock with its pannier market, Farmers market and interesting shops.
Launceston and Okehampton are also interesting, being old market towns, with a Morrisons, Tesco and Waitrose respectively.
Exeter and Plymouth are approximately 45 minutes by car.
The North Cornish coast is 45 minutes away.
Dartmoor can be seen from the grounds, and is a short distance by car.


National Trust properties include Lydford Gorge, Lanhydrock House, Cotehele and Castle Drogo.
Swallow Barn is on the edge of the Grade 1 listed Sydenham estate. Directly from the Barn you can join footpaths taking you in different directions across the estate and beyond.
Abundant wild life is visible - birds, deer, pheasants, and much more.


Visitors are welcome to bring their own dog and/or horse, by prior arrangement.
Full livery is available.
Use your transport to visit Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor for hacking, or enjoy the beautiful quiet lanes that surround the property.
For the more serious rider 1 to1 tuition is available in the 40x20 menage.
